God in His abounding grace has called us to come to Him. Jesus said, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" in Matthew 11:28. The verse continues, "Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light". And also in Revelation 22:17 ; the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely. As the foundational underlying statement of the creation of this page, to “Go to God” is our upward calling and our blessed assurance of hope.
So why should I go to God when I feel at times He isn’t there or He doesn’t care? This is a question asked by even the closet of the Lord’s circle. In Mark 4:37 the scripture states ; And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” In our toughest of times emotions can cloud the presence and faithfulness of God to His children. So how faithful to us is Jesus Christ? So steadfast that God in all His glory stripped Himself in order that God came to us so that we could Go to Him. Who , being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. This was transformational truth that allowed me to see my inability to God to God by only my behavior. I always felt ashamed and fearful to run to a Holy God because I understood the wickedness of my actions and failure to live by God’s standard. An exchange of life had to be given and accepted. And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. I’ve grown to comprehend that eternal life is gift given by God the Father in the precious Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
