Hosea 14:5
I will be like the dew to Israel;
What is more beneficial than the dew? It refreshes the hot tired earth. It rekindles its vanished beauty. It calls forth its fruit- the grass, the clover, and its wheat. So God in His mercy and grace, promises that He deal with me in that way. He will change my soul and revive my spirit from wilderness life into His sweet garden.
What is more quieter and more noiseless than the dew? It makes no stir as it does its gracious work. It is as silent as it is mighty. There is none of snarl and grinding as a man’s machinery and inventions produce their operations. It’s as subtle as a day breeze all the while God is performing His miracles of marvelous generation and renewal, and His presence may not be seen by the world outside at all. But I see, know, love, and praise forevermore.
What is more isolating and uniting all the same. It can fall on the wide world, on field and forrest and hill. But all the while each single blade of grass receives its own coolness, and quickening, and benediction. Thus the Lord reminds through the dew that He shall not forget or miss me in the vast sea of the crowd. He has never been careless of the single life of a wandering or obedient child. On you, and even me, the showers of His rich blessing will descend, as if you were His sole and only child.
The dew shall come. It is His promise and shall be my request.
Deuteronomy 32:2-3
May my teaching drop as the rain,
my speech distill as the dew,
like gentle rain upon the tender grass,
and like showers upon the herb.
For I will proclaim the name of the LORD;
ascribe greatness to our God!
